Every time I hear these songs used personally or professionally I cringe. Some I hate because they are overplayed. But mostly its because of other peoples excitement for them. If you ever want to hear any of these just turn on JackFM!
*honorable mention "Rock the Casbah" - The Clash & "Come on Eileen" - Dexy's Midnight Runners.
10.
"Just Like Heaven" - The Cure - Maybe I never got into it because I didn't smoke in high school. But having a girlfriend who did makes me hear this song plenty. I keep hoping its just a phase, but she wont stop wearing the army jacket.
9.
"How Soon is Now" - The Smiths - I like this song, but I hate the fact that Morrissey has such a cult following and this is the only song of his that I know. So my ignorance will fuel the hatred!
8.
"Back N Black" - AC/DC - another great song, but ever since Best Buy got their hands on it I wanna shop at Circuit City. *Circuit City is out of business, so thats funny ... right? I couldn't work out to this song anymore because it just makes me think about electronic sales.
7.
"Happy" - Pharrell Williams - it could just be his outfits, but its probably the song.
6.
"Its My Life" - No Doubt - I swear for some reason I hear this song at least once a day. I've gotta stop hanging out at "H&M".
5.
"Habits" - Tove Lo - This song actually rules, but I think by 2017 I'll be over it. Its constant radio airplay kept me from buying the CD, .... but I still sing along.
4.
"Waterfalls" - TLC - The worst is when a character in a movie sings along to the rap part of the song, trying to force the audience member to think "Hey! I do that too!"
3.
"Crazy" - Gnarls Barkley - this goes hand in hand with any song by the Gorillaz
("Clint Eastwood" / "Feels Good") - I see why CeeLo has to "Cosby" his way into girls pants.
2. Anything by the band
"Sublime" - I'm talking to you 98.7. Whoever the program director is over there must love to smoke weed.
1.
"Push It" - Salt N Pepa - The only thing I want to "push" is the stop button.
There are plenty more, but I wont complain about "Don't Stop Believing" because it was the the official song of the 2005 Chicago White Sox.
