Guns N Roses in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame ..... Reunion show?
I got tickets to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland on April 14th. Guns N Roses is being inducted. (along with Beastie Boys and Red Hot Chilli Peppers) If everything goes right, this will be the first time that the original 5 members of GNR will be together on the same stage when they accept the induction.
If everything goes right.
Even more complicated, is if they will actually play a few songs together. The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame seems to be the only place where broken up bands can set aside their difference's for one night and play a few songs together for the fans. But Guns N Roses is not just any band.
To put it lightly, I am going to this ceremony, and I will die if they don't play. This has got to happen.
I paid a visit to original Bassist Duff McKagan at his book signing for the paperback release of his book "It's So Easy" (and other lies) To see what was up. (his book rules by the way)
(above), I get pretty excited when I'm about to meet a member of GNR, so I get nervous with a crazy look in my eyes and have to start going over what I'm going to say when I see Duff.
above, I start talking to Duff, and show him my ticket for the Hall of Fame. I mumble something about how only he can help the reunion happen and how I'm a big fan.
(above) Duff, being the cool guy that he is, actually starts engaging me in conversation. He's always awesome and takes the time to actually listen and talk to each fan. My body doesn't know how to react to this, so my "crazy eyes" set in.
He says, "We gotta get a picture with the ticket", we take the picture, and he continues to kick ass with the book signing. I could see it in his eyes, that he wanted the old band to get together and rock it out, if only for a few songs.
The moral of this story is ... THEY WILL REUNITE AT THE ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME!

songs like "Mother's Day" "We Win" and "Wasted Heart" are some of my favorites.

Rosebowl Flea Market in Pasadena
Last week we went and checked out the bi-monthly garage sale that is the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena. I was told there was tons of cool rock memorabilia and other hidden treasures to be found at this apocalyptic gathering of cheap people. When we first arrived, It looked like Hurricane Katrina had struck again, forcing the people of Pasadena to seek shelter at the Rose Bowl. But upon further investigation it was just tons of peddlers, gypsy's and girls without makeup. (yikes)
They have some cool posters. I seriously overheard the owner of the poster tent telling a customer about how the actor from "Jaws 2" come's to his shop all the time looking for a "Jaws 2" original poster. I chimed in saying "I know that guy!" The poster guy was not pleased that I interrupted his story.
At the end of the day, I got a bunch of records, some old rock magazines, football trading cards and a "Starting Lineup" action figure for a guy who refuses to be mentioned on this blog.
I give the Rose Bowl flea market a B+. At least its something different to do. There is a lot of nostalgia and people trying to cash in their crap from the 60's like it was from the set of "Mad Men".

Wrestlemania Party, Sunday April 1st!
People like to say "TGIF" but now we can say TGIFWS! "Thank God its Fucking Wrestlemania Season! "Wrestlemania 28" is coming up Sunday, April 1st. For the last 4 years I've thrown the most kick ass Wrestlemania party in L.A. and I cant wait.
What's that you say? "Chris you couldn't have thrown a Wrestlemania party for the last 4 years, because you didnt throw a party for Wrestlemania 26" ....
Well I didn't have a party for that one because...
I WAS AT IT.
*if you look closely you can see me.
This year's party is gonna be better than ever. With a big group of Friends, Comedians and D-list celebs attending, I cant wait for April 1st!
It's John Cena vs The Rock, Chris Jericho vs CM Punk and it's also the Undertakers last match as he goes for a 20 and 0 record at Wrestlemania with his rematch against Triple H.
*if you want to come to the party and I don't know you personally, you can email me at chrisgehrtcomedy@gmail.com so I can turn you down directly!

Book Review: Shaq Uncut
Shaquille O'Neal's new book is called "Shaq Uncut" and when you are seen with this book people like to say ... 'Shaq Uncut?" is that book about his dong? And then I have to laugh along and say stuff like "I'm not at that chapter yet" or if a gay dude is asking you say "I hope so" and smile. But the reason its called "Uncut" is because it is supposed to be a "uncensored" account of his life. And for the most part, it is. Although like most autobiographies, the author always seems to leave out the part about them being accountable for anything that went wrong in their own life. But that's no big deal, I like the stories either way.
*I should find a way to rotate the above photograph, but instead I'll just write about how I didn't.
This book covers Shaq's whole life. High school, College, his NBA time with the Lakers, the Championships and his final years in the league when he bounced around from team to team like a giant Randy Moss. There are a lot of cool stories. Some about the "Shaq & Kobe" relationship and life in the NBA "behind the scenes". It's a good book and a quick read. Totally worth checking out. I went through a "NBA phase" when I used to work for the Chicago Bulls. So it was cool to get back in the swing of things about basketball.
Long story short, there is no chapter about Shaq's dong, maybe that will be a bonus chapter when it comes out in paperback.
*remind me to tell you the story someday about the day I met Michael Jordan when I worked at the United Center. I was walking alone in a hallway and he came through the door like "The Terminator" and I said out loud "Holy Shit it's Michael Jordan". and he said "Hey". And then he walked past me to go practice on the court.
*no need to remind me to tell you the story, cuz I just did.
*Jordan played for the Wizards at the time, so the story isn't cool anymore. But you can picture him playing for the Bulls if you want.

"Live from the Grave" its John Belushi!
My friend Jack Zullo put on a great John Belushi tribute last night at the Westside Comedy Theater on the Santa Monica Promenade. The show covered John's performing life from his beginning's in the "West Compass Players" comedy troupe, his sketch show's with the "National Lampoon's Lemmings" & "Saturday Night Live" and also his movie career.
(above) The "Westside Comedy Theater", my camera must not have had the flash on!
The show was a mix of sketch performance's, filmed short's and a live band. Jack also performed as "John Belushi" singing, songs from the "Blue's Brother's" and other weird song's from the 70's.
(above) after the show, Jack relaxes and mingles with the audience. Jack actually did a "fuck ton" of work on this, writing, producing, and promoting the show.
(above) The guy that played Dan Aykroyd hangs out backstage.
(above) Other cast members. These girls played Belushi's girlfriends and the guy in the glasses played Lorne Michaels. The guy with the afro was in the show too, playing a guy in Belushi's sketch group.
(above) Chris Westlund was on hand to record the live action. He shot all of the pre-recorded videos that played during the show. Chris is also the cinematographer on my "Snatch Adams" and "Jizzmaster" comedy shorts. Later this spring we will be shooting "Old Vampire" and "Jizzmaster 2" with "Westy".
The show was a great time, and Jack really put his heart and soul into it. It's great to see actors taking control of their own destiny by creating their own projects. I'm glad the show was a success. *The show was put on as a tribute to John Belushi on the 30th anniversary of his death.
