Jon Lovitz Comedy Club this Thursday May 3rd 2012

I got another stand up comedy show at the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club at Universal City Walk this Thursday, May 3rd.

The show starts at 9:30pm hit me up if you want tickets.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE? "Welcome to the Jungle" 25 years later

I thought my GNR addiction would cool off after the Hall of Fame ceremony, but nope, luckily the fire still burns strong and my gateway obsession with Guns N Roses has led me down many different paths in their world. When I'm not wasting time creating different GNR t-shirts and other merchandise in my mind. (I think a chess set would be pretty cool) I track down treasures from their Hollywood upbringing. Let's face it, their isnt a ton of official GNR merchandise to buy and collect, we're not talking about KISS here.
I need to feed my addiction.

Which brings me to this.    The opening bus stop from "Welcome to the Jungle."

This is the infamous corner where Axl get's off the bus in the beginning of the video for "Welcome to the Jungle.  25 years later.
(its at 6th and LaBrea in Los Angeles, looking south)

Looks like the Jungle got a bit of a make over.

Now watch the video.

It's normal to be out taking pictures of intersections at 1:45am right?  I'm sure my Dad will disagree!

Rock N Brew's, Gene Simmon's new restaurant

Had a chance to go eat at "Rock N Brew's" which is co-owned by KISS bassist Gene Simmons. This place was pretty fricken cool, with great food and a nice outdoor seating area. Definitely worth checking out. Its in El Segundo, just south of the LAX airport.

We went on a Friday night and it was packed.

The outside dining patio. You can sit near middle aged men, barking dogs or a buzzing bee hive.
We chose the bee hive because I had never been stung before.

Patrons ignored me as I clumsily took pictures around them.

Whenever you see this symbol, you know your in a good restaurant.

Head Chef Slash is muralized on the wall, keeping an eye on his guitar .. and the customers!
Chef Slash is not required to wear a hair net.

And its right up the street from the High School in the film "Superbad."

Rock N Brew's is a great time.  Here is the website!

Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Cleveland Part 3

While I was in Cleveland for the Hall of Fame show I had a little free time to check out other parts of the city. Here a few photos.

I was suprised to see the Browns have a nice new football stadium.....

I had always assumed they played in some farmer's back yard.
Cleveland has a lot of old buildings....
Lots of old statues and monuments.....
Like your in the opening credits of "Major League."
"Walking Dead?"

Cleveland is known for its shitty sports teams ....
and I'm known for shitty comedy!     It's a match made in Heaven!
Taking a little nap in front of the Hall of Fame. Wake me up when the crows start to circle.

Guns N Roses History Lesson - "The Record Plant"

The Record Plant - Los Angeles

The Record Plant on Sycamore Street in Hollywood is where the actual recording of the guitars and vocals of the "Use your Illusion" albums took place. Behind the Record Plant is the infamous alley where during recording, police found a dismembered arm and head in a garbage can. Which was later turned into a lyric in the song "Double Talkin Jive."

GNR basically took over this place in early 1991. Axl ended up moving in, turning one of the studios into an apartment. With their new money and rock credibility they were able to set up shop with a ton of guitars, keyboards and entourage, recording songs like "November Rain", "Estranged" and "You Could be Mine."

Worlds Smallest Monkey

Here is a picture of the worlds smallest monkey. He was found in some guys pocket during a routine highway police check in Peru. The monkey is near extinction, and makes a great Cat toy.

Not to be confused with the worlds largest monkey, the always "camera shy" Sasquatch.

Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Cleveland Part 2

Here are a few pics of some of the Music memorabilia that they have on display throughout the city.
You may be thinking, "who give's a fuck about a picture of a guitar" but you will look at the pictures anyways.

This is Axl's custom made mic stand from the "Use Your Illusion Tour".
This mic was used on the biggest tour in rock history, now its on display in a mall.
Duff did a book reading/show for fans at the House of Blues the day before the ceremony.
One of Duff's bass guitar's from the "Use Your Illusion" tour.
One of Izzy's guitars.
This is an outfit Slash wore one time at some award show.
I've reached a new low now that I'm taking pictures of peoples clothes.
This is the drum set that Matt Sorum played on for the "Use Your Illusion" tour,. It was the set that was used during the Montreal show with Metallica where the riot broke out.
If these drum's could talk they would have some wild stories to tell.
But they cant talk cuz its a fucking drum set.
A cool Van Halen display at the Hard Rock Cafe.
It's located near the kitchen, where the wait staff gathers to bitch about customers.

Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Cleveland Part 1

We headed to Cleveland this past weekend to see Guns N Roses get inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.  I have tons of photos to post but first I'll put up the ones that most people want to see.
The Induction Ceremony.
The fans lined up in the rain to wait for the band to arrive on the red carpet.

The arena before the show started.

The GNR Induction started with a kick ass montage.
After a pretty cool introduction by Green Day's Billy Joe Armstrong,  Duff took the stage and thanked the fans. Duff has become a great speaker for the group.

Steven Adler was up next. He got a huge ovation and it was cool to see him so happy. He quoted Freddy Mercury in his thank you speech saying "You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it, I thank you all"

Slash was laughing when Adler starting quoting the "Queen Lyrics", he thanked the fans and his wife and was honored to be a part of the Hall of Fame.

Matt Sorum wrapped things up, cracked a few jokes and told some cool stories about being in GNR.

They played 3 songs, starting off with "Mr Brownstone" (Matt drummed on that one), then Adler stepped in for "Sweet Child of Mine" and "Paradise City".  Gilby Clarke performed on rhythm guitar which was an awesome surprise. Myles Kennedy, who works with Slash on his solo projects did the vocals and he always delivers.
They sounded great! If you look at the bottom of the above picture you can see Steven down there drumming, having a blast with his furry hair.

The best part of the night was seeing how happy they all looked up there speaking and playing together. It closed another chapter in the GNR saga. Although everybody had their doubts about how this whole thing was going to go down, It turned out great.  I think Axl and Izzy really missed out. I think they really would have liked this. It was an awesome night for the fans, friends and family of Guns N Roses.

Slash performs on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Slash performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight. Putting on his usual kick ass show with Myles Kennedy and the gang there to rock with him. The set kicked off with his new song "Your a Lie" off of his new album "Apocolyptic Love".  They played that song for the TV audience, and the live audience got a special treat with the following mini concert.

"Your a Lie" - Apocolyptic Love (live for televised audience)
"Back to Cali" - Slash self titled album
"Ghost" - Slash self titled album
"Starlight" - Slash self titled album (dedicated to Jimmy Kimmel's Uncle Frank who passed away)
"Slither" - Contraband - Velvet Revolver
"Paradise City" - Guns N Roses "Appetite for Destruction"

They didn't allow camera's in the concert, and the security guard busted me when I had mine hidden in my crotch. His metal detecter beeped between my legs and he refused to believe that i had a "metal wang".  Luckily my friend KP had one of those fancy phones that take pictures. I used to have a fancy phone, but it was recently stolen by a busboy at a Denny's in Long Beach. But that's a whole other story.  Anyways, I'm glad I didn't have a camera because it seems like people these days spend too much time trying to record the concert instead of just enjoying it.

It was a great time though, he closed out the night with a rip roaring version of "Paradise City" and then during the guitar solo, ........ the mosh pit started.  A bunch of overweight kids in black t-shirts decided to run around in circles and annoy all of us who actually showered today. "Easy there boy's, Some of us have to work in the morning." It must be fun to run around and blow off steam, but you must learn to bury your aggression deep inside like a real adult.

But the best part of the night was .....

Slash signed my poster from the "Live in Stoke" CD.

Yes, I'm wearing crocs in the photo.
